Much like Bastannak vastly contrasted Ahla Dounya, Ayami Bik was quite different from the album that it succeeded. Elissa's sixth studio album depends less on pushing the envelope in musical innovation, and more the heartfelt lyrics. It's Elissa's most personal album to date, with ballads from start to finish. Michel Fadel, Yaser Nour, and George Karam are all absent from this album, but Elissa works with Walid Saad, Sherif Tag, Yehia El Hassan, Ayman Mohseb, and Tarek Madkour for the first time. Nasser El As'ad, who was missing from Elissa's past two albums, returns to her team, as do the musicians who dominated Bastannak: Marwan Khoury, Dani Helou, Tamer Ali, Tamim, and Claude Chalhoub. The title song marks Elissa's first foray into dance music, albeit with Ayshalak-esque strings maintaining the oriental feel. For the most part, it is the oriental-sounding songs, like Betmoun, Saher Aini, and Ala Hobbak, that have the most beautiful music. After the huge success Kermalak and Zanbi Ana were, Elissa's third Marwan Khoury collaboration had big shoes to fill, but like Kermalak, it practically upstaged the title song. Ya Aalem, despite the weak intro, and Ana Bastaghrab Aleih are easily the most powerful of the western-style ballads, but it's Saher Aini that takes the cup for the combination of beautiful lyrics and rich oriental music.
